Healthcare and Pre-Med Internship

International Medical Aid (IMA) offers healthcare and pre-med internships abroad, providing hands-on experience in clinical rotations and physical shadowing. Our programs are designed for pre-med students and undergraduates interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Our programs are customizable and provide opportunities for interns to gain valuable experience in specialties such as cardiology, pediatrics, surgery, and more.

Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced physicians and healthcare professionals in hospitals and clinics in various countries around the world. They will gain first-hand clinical experience in a wide range of medical specialties, including but not limited to internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, dermatology, and oncology. Additionally, interns can observe medical procedures and surgeries and participate in patient rounds.

The program was developed at Johns Hopkins University and is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for interns. It combines hands-on clinical experience with classroom instruction, allowing interns to gain a deep understanding of medical theory and practice. The program is customized to meet each intern's unique needs and goals and provides personal and professional growth opportunities.

IMA’s healthcare internship program philosophy is centered around three main goals: clinical experience, cultural competency, and global health competency. Our physician shadowing and clinical rotations enable interns to work closely with healthcare professionals, observe medical procedures, and participate in patient care.

Our cultural competency goal is achieved through our medical-based language and cultural immersion activities. Interns will be able to immerse themselves in a new culture and gain a deeper understanding of how culture affects healthcare practices.

Interns will have the opportunity to learn about healthcare policies and systems in different countries and gain an understanding of the global healthcare landscape.

​At the end of the program, interns will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation from IMA. These documents will attest to the knowledge, skills, and competencies gained through the program and can be used to enhance their future academic and professional opportunities.
