International Medical Aid (IMA) accepts applications on a rolling basis, meaning most programs have no set deadline. Instead of waiting for a fixed application date, IMA reviews each application as submitted and fills available spots accordingly. This approach allows qualified applicants to secure placements well before their intended program dates.
Because many programs—especially those scheduled during summer or winter break—reach capacity months in advance, early submission is strongly encouraged. Applying early gives you a better chance of being placed in your preferred location and specialty area. It also ensures ample time for travel arrangements, vaccinations, visa processing (if needed), and any fundraising or financial planning.
Students should aim to apply at least 3–6 months before their desired start date, especially for high-demand locations like Kenya and Peru. However, limited last-minute placements may be available depending on current program capacity and location-specific requirements.
