Are Secondary Applications Free?

Secondary applications usually cost $50–$100 each, but many schools waive the fee if you’ve received AMCAS fee assistance.

Secondary applications are not free. Each school typically charges a fee ranging from $50 to $100 to process your application. This cost is separate from the primary AMCAS fee and applies to every school that sends you a secondary.

However, if you’ve been approved for the AMCAS Fee Assistance Program, you may also be eligible to have secondary fees waived. Many schools honor this waiver, helping reduce the overall financial burden of applying.

If you’re applying to multiple schools, these fees can add up quickly, so budget accordingly. If you qualify, apply for early fee assistance to make the most of it.
