Here are the frequently asked questions about Housing, Meals, and Travel under the Parent's Guide.

What kind of housing does International Medical Aid provide?

Interns stay in secure, staff-managed guesthouses or apartments near their clinical sites. Housing is clean, furnished, and equipped with Wi-Fi, filtered water, and shared common areas. We prioritize safety and comfort to ensure students can focus on learning.

Are meals included in the program?

Yes. Most programs include two to three daily meals featuring local and Western-style options. Dietary restrictions are accommodated whenever possible with prior notice, and students are encouraged to enjoy local cuisine safely during their free time.

Is international airfare included in the Program Fee?

Airfare is not included. Students are responsible for booking their flights, but we provide detailed instructions, airport pickup, and travel tips to help with planning. Our team is available to assist with travel logistics before departure.

How will my child get to the hospital or clinic each day?

IMA arranges and provides all daily transportation using vetted private vehicles and trusted drivers. We do not rely on public transportation. The Program Fee includes the cost, so students are never left to navigate local systems independently.

Will my child have time to explore the host country?

Yes. Interns have some evenings and weekends free to explore the local area, enjoy cultural excursions, or relax. We offer safe activity recommendations and optional group outings, so your child can experience the country while staying within our safety protocols.

What kind of supervision will my child receive outside of clinical hours?

Outside of scheduled clinical and educational activities, interns are still supported by our on-site staff and program coordinators. While we encourage independence and cultural engagement, curfews or check-ins may be implemented depending on the location. Our coordinators live nearby or on-site and remain accessible 24/7 for safety concerns, personal guidance, or emergencies.

What if my child has allergies, dietary needs, or a chronic health condition?

We make every effort to accommodate medical conditions and dietary needs disclosed during the application process. Whether your child has food allergies, diabetes, asthma, or another ongoing condition, our staff is trained to support and ensure access to necessary care and accommodation.

Before travel, we encourage open communication with our team to make any required preparations for housing, meals, or clinical responsibilities.
