Congratulations on completing your internship and officially becoming an IMA alumnus!
As part of your transition to alumni status, there are several important steps to complete. These ensure you remain eligible for alumni benefits such as recommendation letters, verification of clinical hours, and scholarship opportunities.
Intern Evaluation
You can review the International Medical Aid Intern Evaluation Form on our website. This document outlines the criteria on which your performance will be assessed. Your evaluation is based on feedback collected from your clinical supervisors and Program Mentors.
Standard Letter of Recommendation
To qualify, you must achieve marks of “Good” or higher in at least seven of the nine evaluation categories.
Highest-Level Recommendation
To qualify, you must achieve marks of “Excellent” in at least seven of the nine categories. This distinction is reserved for the top 10% of interns.
Letters of recommendation are prepared by IMA’s Medical Director in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
Complete Your Program Evaluation
To close your internship officially, please complete the steps below:
1. Submit your Final Written Assignment.
Summarize your clinical and cultural learning experiences. Details and guidelines are provided in a separate email. Once submitted, you may request the following documents:
Letters of Recommendation
Note: Requests should be submitted at least 30 days but no more than 90 days before your intended deadline.
2. Complete the Program Exit Survey [South America].
Provide feedback on local staff, facilities, and program logistics. Your feedback is essential in helping us evaluate our team in South America and improve future programs. Click here to complete the Exit Survey
Alumni Scholarship Eligibility
Selected interns may be invited to apply for IMA’s Alumni Scholarships. To qualify, you must complete:

Ambassador Program and Social Media Opportunities
IMA Ambassador Program
Join the IMA Ambassador Program, where you can represent IMA at conferences and events. Ambassadors are also expected to organize two campus events per year, with full sponsorship provided by IMA.

Alumni with a strong social media presence are invited to help manage and grow a new IMA channel. If you have an active and engaged audience, please reach out to express your interest.
